Diocesan Service Committee

2008 Election of Officers

New officers have been elected to serve on the Diocesan Service Committee for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese of Memphis.  The officers will serve for a term of two years, at the end of which they may be eligible to run for an addition term of two years serving in the same capacity. Three of the five officers have just completed a two year term and have sought reelection to their current posts. Carlene Inzer will return as Assistant Liaison, Mike Yarbrough as Activities Chair, and Joe Solaas as Secretary.  Valera Faison has vacated her post as Treasurer, and Lorie Diaz will replace her.  Jan Courtney is leaving the position of Communications Chair, and Laurie Solaas has been elected to replace her.

On September 12, 2008 at Holy Rosary Church the new officers were installed by Reverend Mr. Werner Rose, during a Mass celebrated by Reverend Jim Martell.Under the direction of Deacon Rose, the Liaison to the Bishop, the DSC plans and executes all of the functions sponsored by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Memphis Diocese (CCRMD).  Some of the many activities that have been sponsored by the committee are Spiritual Growth seminars, retreats, Healing Services, and Masses. This fall, on October 24, 2008,  7-9 pm, at St Louis Church the CCRMD will sponsor a Festival of Praise. The festival will consist of Praise and Worship, Confessions, Mass, and prayer teams.

The committee meets the third Friday of every month at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 7 pm.  In addition to the five elected positions, the Service Committee consists of one Member-At-Large from each Prayer Group in the Diocese. Each Member-At–Large present at the meeting may vote on any motion presented. Prayer Groups are responsible for electing their own representatives to the Diocesan Service Committee.  DSC meetings are open to anyone wishing to attend.

At Baptism we are filled with an abundance of God’s grace. He gives us many Charisms, and we possess many talents that are meant to be used in the service of the Church.  Over the next two years the DSC will be forming sub-committees to assist in the work of the CCRMD.  Some of the Charisms and talents needed are: Music (do you sing or play an instrument), Art (can you draw or do you have skill in Graphic Design), Organization (are you a good organizer), Teaching, Helping (can you distribute flyers, make phone calls, or set up a reception), Intercession (do you love to pray for others) If you are interested in serving on a sub-committee please contact Carlene Inzer at 327-3627or email Lsolass@att.net.
