Committee
Reports--
Secretary:
Joe
read the Minutes of the 9/21/2007 DSC meeting. Two
corrections were noted. Mike moved the minutes
be accepted as amended, Joe seconded the motion, and
it passed by voice vote.
Treasurer:
In
Velera’s absence, Carlene presented the Treasurer’s
report. Werner commented that he liked the new
report format.
Communications:
In
Jan’s absence, Suzanne presented the Communications
Report.
- Suzanne
said Jan had made the flyer for the October
26th Mass, and Suzanne had mailed the flyer
to those without email addresses.
- Jan
had sent an email with information on the October
Mass and the “Alive in the Spirit” follow-up
Pot-Luck.
- Carlene
showed an article about the 10/26 Mass Jan had
written for the West Tennessee Catholic newspaper,
the 10/19 edition.
- Jan
learned that Judy Gray has retired as the Secretary
of the Office of Worship and Spiritual Life.
Mike asked if Werner would review future
articles from the DSC for submission to West
Tennessee Catholic until the Diocese names a
new editor, and Werner said he would.
Activities:
Mike’s
Report covered the following points:
- Mike
asked that information regarding an activity
still in planning stages be communicated only
to committee members until finalization, or
“OK’d” by the committee for dissemination.
- It
was decided that Committee Chair is to communicate
with Assistant Liaison regarding committee decisions.
Decisions requiring full DSC approval
or vote, may be handled out of the DSC meeting
via email or conference call, however the items
must be brought up in the next DSC meeting so
the decision is documented in the minutes.
- Mike
said Helen has approval for the “Born of the
Spirit” seminar to be held at Church of the
Resurrection on 11/9/2007 and 11/10/2007. Helen
has set a team meeting at 7:00 PM on 10/25/2007
at her home. Scheduled Seminar times are
6:30PM to 9:00PM on 11/9, and 9:00AM to 3:00PM
on 11/10.
- Helen
will meet with Msgr. Buchignani about a possible
Born of the Spirit seminar at St. Francis in
January.
Old
Business--
- Carlene
suggested DSC members try to make as many of
the Novena Masses at St. Ann, Bartlett in December.
She said she will contact Edgar Gumban
for dates and times.
- Carlene
reported she approached Sandi and Nick Knickerbocker
regarding a DSC retreat. Tentative dates
of 4/11/2008 and 4/12/2008 conflict with Southern
Regional Conference in New Orleans, so Carlene
said she would ask the Knickerbockers for alternative
dates.
- Carlene
asked if we would provide stipends for the two
Italian Priests concelebrating the 10/26 Mass.
$25.00 each was suggested, Joe moved the
$25.00 stipend be paid each Priest, Mike seconded,
and motion passed by voice vote.
- Suzanne
reported we did not have Praise & Worship
Adoration on 10/12/2007, due to the Multi-Cultural
fellowship at Church of the Resurrection held
the same night.
- Werner
reported on the stirring talks and testimony
at the Charismatic Conference earlier in October
at Subiaco Abbey.
- Carlene
reported on the 8-week “Heart to Heart” course
at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
- Carlene
asked if Helen had talked with Sr. Linda Koontz
about coming to Memphis for a Healing Retreat.
Suzanne said she would talk to Helen and
find out.
New
Business--
- Werner
asked if an Adoration event were being planned
for New Years’ Eve, as we had last year. Carlene
said nothing was planned as yet, but the DSC
will discuss in November.
- Joe
reported Laurie is preparing draft of plan for
“Life in the Spirit” for Youth, but as yet has
no dates in mind.
- Carlene
reported she was investigating Deacon’s Stoles
to be provided to Candidates Bob Walker and
Walt Bolton, both from the Sunday Night Prayer
Group. Werner suggested we could individually
contribute to cover the costs. After discussion
Mike made a motion for the DSC to provide cost
of materials for the Stoles and to present the
Stoles to the Candidates at the Sunday Night
Prayer Group Meeting. Joe Seconded the
motion. DSC decided to acquire the funds
via donations at the 10/26/2007 Mass.
- Next
DSC Meeting is 7:00PM November 16, 2007 at Church
of the Holy Spirit.
9:17PM
– Motion
to adjourn made by Mike was seconded by Suzanne, and
passed by voice vote.
Respectfully
submitted,
Joe
Solaas, Secretary
