 Minutes of Diocesan Service Committee Meeting

 

Summary of meeting held November 18, 2005

 

PRESENT: Werner Rose, Suzanne Johnson, Velera Faison, Helen Lenahan, Mike Lenahan, Linda McGee and Mike Yarbrough.

 

The meeting opened at 7:15pm. We opened with "Jesus, I Adore Thee" and prayer to the Holy Spirit.

 

Secretary Report

Velera Faison read minutes from the October 21, 2005 Meeting.  It was corrected under Prayer Group Visit that Suzanne and Laurie visited the St. Peter's Prayer Group at Elise Crockett's house.  Also corrected under Prayer Group visit was the Ascension Group and St. Mary's in Jackson are no longer meeting. Suzanne moved to approve minutes as corrected.  Mike Yarbrough seconded.  All approved minutes as corrected.

 

Financial Report

Linda reported our current balance is $278.31.

 

There was no Communications or Activity Report.

 

All discussed and personal intercessors were assigned.

 

There will be no prayer day in Jackson.

 

All discussed and it was decided that getting into the West Tennessee Catholic would be tabled at this time.

 

New Business

The Diocesan Service Committee will have a Christmas Party December 21, 2005 for leaders, spouses and guests.

 

There was a discussion on writing a letter to the priests about having a Charismatic Mass.  Suzanne mentioned she will write a letter to the Charismatic priests asking for their help in this endeavor and Laurie could work on writing a letter to the parish priests about being open to celebrating a Charismatic Mass.

 

The Born in the Spirit and The Alive in the Spirit have been tabled at this time.  

 

All discussed having our Multi-cultural event at Pentecost.

 

Suzanne mentioned sending a newsletter that we need volunteers for the Nominating Committee for this years elections.

 

Helen moved to close the meeting.  Linda seconded.  Meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.

 

There will be no December meeting.  Next DSC meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2005.
