 Minutes of Diocesan Service Committee Meeting

 

Summary of meeting held January 21, 2005

PRESENT: Laurie Solaas, Joe Solaas, Mike Lenahan, Mike Yarbrough, Deacon Werner Rose, Velera Faison, Carlene Inzer and Suzanne Johnson.

Linda McGee was absent.

This Diocesan Charismatic Service Committee Meeting, held at Holy Spirit Church, began at approximately 7:15pm. Joe opened with Glory to the King.

Werner asked for suggestions on an article for the newsletter.  Suzanne mentioned the state of the renewal as a possibility.

Velera Faison read the minutes from the previous meeting on November 19, 2004.  Velera moved to approve.  Laurie seconded motion.  All unanimously approve.

Linda sent the Treasury report via e-mail which reflected a current checking account balance of $501.39.

It was mentioned that Linda will send the $70.00 donation to Holy Spirit for use of their facilities during Father Capuci's retreat.

Laurie gave her Communication report and is working on the Dorothea Degrandis flyer.  Laurie is also working on getting another flame out.  Laurie mentioned simplifying the prayer request page and asking Mary Lou Solaas to e-mail the prayer requests to people that want them.  Laurie is also working on the design for our banner.

It was reported on the disposition of liturgical articles that Father Ernie will take all articles except the glass. It was mentioned that the glass could be given to the parish at Pickwick.

In Suzanne's review of goals and objectives, she handed out an agenda for the DSC to visit prayer groups.  Suzanne contacted the prayer group leaders and will follow up with the meetings.

Under New Business the Constitution and By-Laws were discussed.  It was mentioned that we add to the By-Laws under meetings, that the Liaison could lead the meeting if the Assistant Liaison was absent or appoint someone to lead the meeting.  Laurie will send Sister Eileen the By-Laws for her approval.  We will postpone approving the minutes until Sister Eileen approves.

Mike Lenahan gave his report on Dorothea Degrandis coming to Memphis. Everything is set up with Dorothea.  It will be a Healing Seminar at Resurrection Church on the 1st and 2nd of April.  It will be from 6:30pm-8:30pm Friday night and from 10:00am-4:00pm on the following Saturday.  The price will be $10.00 for a single and $15.00 for a couple.  There will be a nursery provided.  The cost to us will be Dorothea's airfare, room and board.

Suzanne closed the meeting with an Our Father.  Mike Lenahan moved to close the meeting.  Mike Yarbrough seconded motion.  All unanimously approve. 

The meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.  Next meeting is Friday, February 18, 2005.
