 Minutes of Diocesan Service Committee Meeting

 

Summary of meeting held February 18, 2005

PRESENT: Laurie Solaas, Joe Solaas, Mike Lenahan, Helen Lenahan, Mike Yarbrough, Deacon Werner Rose, Velera Faison, Carlene Inzer and Suzanne Johnson.

Linda McGee was absent.

This Diocesan Charismatic Service Committee Meeting, held at Holy Spirit Church, began at approximately 7:15pm. Joe led us in song with It is Good and For You are My God.  Carlene offered the opening prayer.

Werner would like to send the Bishop, Father Bruce and Sister Eileen a Flame newsletter. 

Suzanne mentioned she spoke with Sister Eileen Fucito and she said to include the job description in the By-Laws and to leave voting in the Constitution.

Suzanne, Laurie, Joe and Mike reported on their visits to the different prayer groups.  They visited the Filipino, Spanish, St.Louis and Bread of Life prayer groups.  They plan to visit Holy Spirit prayer group March 8, 2005.  Laurie commented on how different the prayer groups were.  It was mentioned that they are large numbers at the Filipino and Spanish groups.  Mike mentioned the Spanish are in need of Catechesis.  It was mentioned that the Bread of Life group does the Liturgy of the Hours.

Velera read the minutes from the previous meeting on January 21, 2005. 

Suzanne read Linda's Treasury report which reflected a current checking account balance of $121.39.

Mike Lenahan gave the Activities report on the upcoming seminar with Dorothea DeGrandis Sudol.  There was a February 4th meeting with the Dorothea committee. Laurie passed around a flyer for the Dorothea seminar with the cost of $10.00 single/$15.00 couple to pre-register and $15.00 single/$20.00 couple for regular registration.  Suzanne moved to approve.  Mike Lenahan seconded motion.  All approve.

Friday evening schedule will be from approximately 7:15-9:15pm. Saturday schedule will go from approximately 9:30am until 4:00pm with lunch from 11:30am-1:00pm. Schedule and topics for seminar on Friday evening will include Forgiveness and Spiritual Warfare.

DSC - February 18, 2005

On Saturday the day will include Praise and Worship, Spiritual Warfare, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Cutting the Chords, Healing the Child Within and Intergenerational Healing.

It was discussed that we will have a table for Dorothea's materials and Mike Yarbrough will have a table for his religious articles.  Velera will send a personal letter to Father Martel inviting him to seminar.  Suzanne will invite Father Mickey.

It was discussed that checks for seminar will be made out to CCRM with no registration deadline.  The renewal will pay $500 out of registration money to Dorothea.  We will collect a love offering at seminar.  We expect at least 100-150 people.  Suzanne suggests giving 100% of love offering to Dorothea. The rest of the registration money will go to Church and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Memphis. We will pay a nursery worker $25 on Friday and $75 on Saturday.  All present discussed and approved arrangements for Dorothea.

It was discussed that 10% of registration proceeds go back to the Church.  Mike Yarbrough moved to approve. Mike Lenahan seconded motion.  All unanimously approved.

Laurie gave the Communications report.  She mentioned she will need between $70-$100 for materials for our banner.  She passed around the design layout for the banner.  It was discussed that we get a stand for our banner.  Suzanne mentioned she is willing to charge the cost and get reimbursed from registration from Dorothea seminar.  Laurie will get the Flame out the week of February 21st.  Laurie mentioned there has not been many prayer requests sent lately.

All voted to adopt Constitution and By-Laws as corrected and approved by Sister Eileen Fucito.  Suzanne moves to approve.  Mike Lenahan seconded motion.  All approved.

New Business was discussed on having some kind of celebration in conjunction with the National Conference "40 Hours of Prayer" in Miami, May 13-15. The theme of Cenacle Prayer for Memphis was mentioned.  All discussed possibilities of having Adoration at St. Louis or a Charismatic Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and reception in Marian Hall.  We could possibly have Father Graves, Father Bruce Neili or Father Bruce Cinquengrani presiding. Suzanne will ask Father Val about using the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. 

Werner closed the meeting with a prayer.

No Meeting in March due to the Conference in New Orleans.

The meeting adjourned at 9:15pm.  Next meeting is Friday, April 15, 2005.
